Admission-free and open to the public, our museum is the place to experience our Tribe’s history firsthand, showcasing how our ancestors—the Muskogee Creek Indians—lived, with samples of stoneware, pottery, tools, baskets, and textiles that depict early village life. The Poarch Creek Indians Museum also displays traditional Creek art, including baskets, pottery, textiles, shellwork, copper tooling, and quilting, produced in the traditional way. Visitors can see artifacts unique to the Poarch Creek Indians, such as original copies of the Petition for Federal Recognition submitted to the United States Department of the Interior in 1980.
Explore the art, culture and traditions of Southeastern Native peoples through two influential books by Emma Lila Fundaburk. Sun Circles and Human Hands and Southeastern Indians: Life Portraits document Native artistry, craftsmanship and everyday life through historical illustrations, paintings and designs. This exhibit highlights the lasting significance of these works and the cultural traditions they continue to preserve and inspire.
Legends of the Field celebrated the role of sports in Poarch Creek history and community life. The exhibit explored the cultural significance of traditional stickball and the evolution of sports within the Tribe, including baseball and softball. Through photographs, equipment and stories of generations of players, it honored the traditions, teamwork and community pride that continue to bring people together.
Our permanent exhibits invite visitors to explore the stories, traditions and experiences that have shaped the Poarch Creek Indians across generations. Detailed recreations, historical timelines and interactive displays offer insight into everyday life, important events and the resilience of our people. Each exhibit adds another chapter to our history, highlighting the strength of our community, the preservation of our culture and the traditions that continue to connect us today.
